Saratoga Chapel Weekly Spotlight – December 9, 2018

UPCOMING EVENTS

WELCOME VISITORS – Thank you for worshiping with us this morning. Please stay and visit with us during coffee hour after the service.  Nursery is available throughout the service. Children ages 4 and up are dismissed for Junior Church during the service.  Please fill out the Visitor Card in the bulletin and drop it in offering plate, so we can acknowledge you and get to know you better.

CHAPEL CHRISTMAS POST OFFICE is now open.  Put your Christmas cards in the box in the hall.  We will then distribute them to you in your chapel mail slot.

CHRISTMAS ADVENT CALENDARS: There are Advent calendars on the table at the back of the church.  Please take one home with you to use with your family this Christmas season.

 POINSETTIAS: We will again be decorating the chapel with poinsettias for Christmas.  If you would like to order a poinsettia, please see the insert in the bulletin.

SAVE THE DATE: January 11th at 6:30 the chapel’s annual meeting will be held.

SECOND SUNDAY LUNCH: There will be a pot luck lunch following the service.

MISSION OPPORTUNITY: David Caldwell’s “Camps International” is raising money for camp scholarships for kids.  $75 sponsors one kid, $150 sponsors two kids and $375 sponsors a whole cabin group.  Checks can be made out to Camps International and left in the offering plate or the chapel with Camps International in the memo line.  Please see Bert Parker for any questions.

WOMEN’S BREAKFAST: The women’s breakfast will be Saturday December 15th at 9:00 am.  All women are welcome.

NEW PHONE DIRECTORY: We are in the process of updating the phone directory.  In this week’s bulletin there are forms to fill out for any changes or additions to the directory.  Please check your information and return the sheets to Sue Mead or Bert Parker.

PHILIPPIANS The women’s inductive Bible study has started again.  It meets Wednesdays from 1:00 to 3:00 at Becky Mancuso’s home. Workbooks that help guide your individual study may be ordered through Cruciform Press or download from the Cruciform Press website. All women are welcome to join us.  Please see Becky Mancuso if you have any questions.

A NEW SUNDAY SCHOOL CLASS started Sept. 9th at 8:30.  This class is a video series by Dr. D. A. Carson entitled The God Who Is There: Finding Your Place In God’s StoryDr. Carson is the research professor of the New Testament at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School as well as the co-founder and president of the Gospel Coalition.  The series is designed to walk you through the major turning points in the biblical storyline and give you a better grasp of the overall biblical picture.  As a follow-up to our study on Imagine Church, this series will help equip you to convey the general plotline to those unfamiliar with the Bibles overarching narrative.  Please join us for a time of learning and discussion.  Jeff Kimble will moderate.

 MEN’S BIBLE STUDY: The men’s Bible study meets on Wednesday mornings at 8:00 am.
